DescriptionPBIS, otherwise known as Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports is the school-wide behavior management system Pataskala Elementary utilizes to maintain and promote positive behaviors at school. This integrates system is designed to give simple but effective strategies that improve behavioral outcomes for all students.
Student behavior is monitored through a classroom color wheel. The goal is to stay on GREEN, which is making positive choices throughout the day. If a student moves down the color wheel for making a poor choice, each color signals an intervention by the teacher. A student can move up the wheel to a PURPLE, earning a Purple Path of Pride. The School Pledge below highlights the character traits (respectful, responsible, capable, and caring) that are taught to each student and recognized by a move to PURPLE.
There are other class/team incentives used promote making good choices, and even Positive Passenger tickets are used for our bus riders showing leadership. We use a schoolwide POINT system to track class behavior in and out of the classroom. Winning classes and teams are picked on a monthly basis and rewarded with an incentive.
