BULLETIN BOARD
|
PLEASE NOTE: YOUR CHILD MUST BE WITHOUT FEVER (TEMPERATURE OF 100° OR GREATER) OR VOMITING FOR 24HRS BEFORE RETURNING TO SCHOOL. IF YOUR CHILD IS SENT HOME WITH EITHER OF THESE CONDITIONS, PLEASE MAKE ARRANGMENTS FOR THEM TO REMAIN AT HOME THE FOLLOWING DAY OR LONGER IF NECESSARY.
Flu: Symptoms of Influenza include sudden onset of fever, chills and body aches. Cold symptoms are also common. If your child is absent due to the Flu, please indicate this when contacting the school. Your child must be without a fever for 24hrs before returning to school.
Chickenpox: We have had cases of Chickenpox in the schools. It is possible for children who have had the vaccine to get a mild case. Please keep your child home and contact the school if you suspect Chickenpox. Your child can return to school when all lesions are scabbed over and no new bumps or blisters are forming.
Strep Throat: We have had cases of strep throat reported in the schools. Strep throat is a bacterial infection that causes redness, pain and swollen glands in the throat. A fever and nausea/vomiting are also common. If you suspect strep throat please have your child's throat examined and cultured. Your child must be on antibiotic therapy and be without a fever for 24hrs before returning to school.
Head Lice: Please check your child's head routinely for signs of head lice. Remind your children of the precautions that help decrease transmission, (i.e. not sharing hats, combs/brushes, etc.) If your child is found to have head live he/she must be treated with a lice-killing hair product and ALL NITS MUST BE REMOVED!! This assures that re-infestation will not occur due to nits (eggs) that may survive treatment.
