College Credit Plus Meeting

 
What:        Annual College Credit Plus Meeting
When:       Tuesday, December 3, at 6:30 pm
Where:      WMHS Auditorium
 
Why?         I'm so glad you asked!
 
 If you are considering or interested in taking COLLEGE COURSES that are offered at WMHS, on a college campus, or online through a college, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you attend this annual meeting regarding College Credit Plus (CCP).
 
In this meeting, we will review: 
  • What is CCP?
  • What are the eligibility requirements?
  • What classes are covered / are NOT covered according to the law?
  • How many credits can a high school student take?
  • Where can I take college classes?
  • What is FERPA?
  • Pros and Cons of participating in CCP in grades 7 - 12.
  • What are the risks and differences between high school and college? 
  • What classes are offered at WMHS for college credit?
  • What is the cost inv olved.
  • Representatives from local colleges will be in attendance to answer questions. 

It is highly recommended that any student who wants to participate in CCP next school year (2020-2021) attend this meeting WITH their parent or guardian in order to fully understand the guidelines and steps a student must take to participate.  WMHS school counselors will review information regarding classes taught at WMHS and procedures regarding atending classes on the college campus.  In addition, representatives from area colleges may be present to answer college-specific questions.

Youth Leadership Council

Sophee Engle, Molly Rudduck, Sarah Selfinger, and Kenny Sloan have been selected as representatives to the Youth Leadership Council of Licking County.  YLC members participate in prevention education, civic engagement, leadership development, and community service with the intent of educating parents, professionals, and their peers on the community-wide impacts of behavioral health concerns.

Student Experience

Mason Sharpless, of the Class of 2022, participated in the FBI Youth Leadership Program this summer in Quantico, Virginia. The YLP selection is rigorous, including an application, leadership essay, and interview process; only one student per state is offered this opportunity every summer. Mason plans to pursue a career in the FBI.
