Watkins Middle School is eager to welcome back students, their families and staff to the 2015-2016 school year. We are very pleased that our school has a well-earned reputation in our community to its commitment of fostering academic excellence while consistently focusing on creating positive social relationships. At Southwest Licking, we are working together in creating a child-centered learning community that involves each and every adult who interacts within a child’s life.
Visiting our school, you will notice many positive changes. We also have a number of new staff we would like to introduce. Ms. Katie Piacquadio is our new assistant principal. We also added the following list of teachers: Matt Connor - 8th grade math; Robert Davis - Middle School/High School band; Jacob Duffy - intervention specialist; Michelle Illick-Bowers - 7th grade social studies; Vikki James - 7th grade social studies; Kyle McFerin - career technology; Katie Nieman - PE/Health; Phillip Showalter - Middle School band/choir; Shawn Walter - technology. Our new speech pathologist is Kelsey Purtell. Please join me in welcoming to our Warrior Tribe!
Bus route information will available on August 13th. Please see the district website for more information.
Building start and end times are as follows:
• The high school and middle school start time 7:20 a.m.
• The middle school day will end at 2:10 p.m. and the high school day will end at 2:14 p.m. They will be on the same bus routes.
This is beneficial information for the community at large in order to avoid encountering the congestion on local thoroughfares during these times.
Our school supply lists are located to the left and other updates can be found below and on our Facebook page at Watkins Middle School. We also encourage that all families sign up for each of their children’s school listserv by clicking on the announcements link located on each building’s home page. The Middle School's announcements can be subscribed to by simply putting your email address in the box on the right hand side of the homepage.
In closing, we look forward to meeting our students and their families and working with each to create the best educational experience. We believe that students can reach their potential when parents, teachers, students, administrators and the community work together. The staff of Watkins Middle School looks forward to another year of providing an outstanding education to our students. If you ever have any questions, concerns, or positive comments, please contact your child’s teacher or Mr. Brown. Working together we can provide the education each child in our district deserves. We thank our learning community for their continued support.
