Warrior students and families,
I'm thrilled to be stepping into the role as the Principal of Watkins Middle School for the 2021-2022 school year! As a Watkins alum I can't tell you how surreal stepping into this experience has been so far, and I'm extremely eager to welcome our students back into our building this year to get to work. It doesn't feel that long ago that the eleven year old version of myself stepped into the halls of WMS and heard Mr. Harry Gardner (my former middle school Principal) come across the PA system for the start of my own middle school experience. As we emerge from the challenges of the past year and a half our charge to students and staff this year will be to "fall forward". This message speaks to our desire to cultivate an atmosphere of learning that encourages experimentation, learning from failure, and the desire to develop a growth mindset. Our aim will be to focus on our resiliency academically and social emotionally. We will encourage all members of our learning community to reconnect, reengage, and reinforce the principles that make WMS a fantastic place.
As we step into the upcoming school year we look to welcome one of the largest contingents of students in the history of Watkins Middle. This year will mark the final year in our current building before we move across the parking lot to the former high school. As exciting as this move will be we will also cherish the historic memories that this building gave so many former members of the Pataskala community. We look forward to opportunity to work with each and everyone of you to expand learning opportunities for all and embrace the "Warrior Way"!
